I made a cute puppy match that is great for letter recognition and fine motor skills. I printed the patterns on cardstock paper ... cut them out and laminated them.
I mixed the puppies and the bones up so they were not in alphabetical order and set them out in a tray. Children self-selected which cards to pick from the tray.
In this activity children match the dog bones and puppies with the same letter. They can clip them together with plastic coated paper clips or clothespins. You can also do a letter sequence by having the children put the puppies in alphabetical order and placing the matching bones on top.
