I made a pencil alphabet activity to work on letter recognition and fine motor development. I print the patterns on cardstock ... cut them out and laminated them. The patterns come in both black and white as well as color.
We used mini clothespins for this activity but you can also use regular sized clothespins. The children sorted the pencils into two piles ... one for uppercase and the second for lowercase letters.
In this activity children children pick a pencil and the find the pencil with the same letter and clip them together. Play continues until all letters have been matched. You can see a video of this activity and download the patterns below.
