I put together an Easter egg letter hunt for the children to do today. I took address labels and wrote four letters each on them. I then cut the labels and put on on each plastic egg. Even though it was really cold outside I decided to hide the eggs outside so the children could run around and explore more.
The children searched for the eggs and were told they could only pick up one at a time and bring it back to me to put in our egg bowl. When they picked up an egg they looked to see what letter it was.
If it was a letter they could identify they brought it to me and told me the letter and then put the egg in the bowl. If was not a letter they could read then they left the egg where they found it and searched for another egg with a different letter.
To ensure that everyone could find and put the eggs in the bowl I searched with some of the children who seemed to be having some problems identifying letters. When they showed me the eggs we worked on the what they thought the letters were.

We had a lot of fun searching for our eggs and it was a great way to end the week. I realize that this post may be a bit late for some of you who did not have class today but save the idea for next year ... your students will enjoy it!!
