I made colored popcorn seeds for our fall corn and scarecrow theme. I was really pleased with how easy they were to make and how well they turned out. I used regular popcorn seeds that are sold in jars or bags (not the boxed microwave kind).
I put a little over a half a cup of seeds in a zip lock bag and then added ten drops of food color to start with. I closed the bag up an gently moved the seeds around in the bag so the food color dispersed and coated the popcorn seeds. I add a few more drops of food color in the bag if I was not happy with the color and continued to move the seeds around in the bag.

After the seeds had been coated (they will look a little blotchy at first) I let them sit for about ten minutes and then moved the seeds around in the bag again to make sure they were all coated. I let them sit about an hour longer and the poured the seeds onto paper towels to let them dry.
I will have a sensory tub filled with the colored popcorn seeds as well as discovery bottles. We are also using the seeds for a project which will be in my next video.
