Here is a color match and trace activity which is great for color recognition and pre-writing skills. I printed the patterns on cardstock paper ... cut them out and laminated them.
I made color cards ... color word cards ... and color/color word matching cards. You can use the color and color word cards for matching as well. I set the color word cards out and children place the color cards on top of them.
I also made color word tracing cards in both black and white as well as color. Children trace the color words with their finger first and then with washable markers.
