Spring Bird Shape Match

The free membership printable this week is spring bird shape match for recognition and visual discrimination skills. Print the patterns on cardstock paper ... cut them and laminate them.

I separated the nests and the birds and set them out. The children picked a birds and then found the matching nest with the same shape. Play continued until all birds and nest had been matched.

Bunny Shape Fine Motor Dots

The free membership printable this week is Bunny Shape Fine Motor Dots for shape recognition and fine motor development. You can print the patterns on regular or cardstock paper ... and then cut them out.

I set the dot cards out with a small container of paint and some q-tips. The children dip the q-tips in the paint and then fill in the blank dots on the shapes. You can also use markers with this activity. I have included both black and white as well as color versions.

Fine Motor Shape Punch

I made shape punching strips for the children to work on shape identification and fine motor skills. I printed them on cardstock paper but you can also use regular paper.

In this activity children punch a hole on the black dot underneath the matching shapes on each strip.

You can also clip the the matching shapes by using clothespins or large plastic paper clips on the black dots.

Another way to use the shape punch strips is to attach hot and cold dots on the black circles for use with a hot dots pen. I purchased mine from amazon but they are made by learning resources so you may be able to get them from their site as well.

I made a set of shape and line cards that can be used for fine motor activities. We used small buttons but you can also use pom poms ... glass beads ... or playdough.

I printed the cards on cardstock paper ... cut them out and laminated them. In this activity children traced the shape and line cards with buttons. We also rolled playdough and used that on the shape cards as well. You can see a video of this activity below.

The free membership printable this week is five pieces shape puzzles for shape recognition and fine motor development. I printed the patterns on cardstock paper ... cut them out and then laminated them. I then cut along the lines so that their were five strips for each puzzle.

I mixed up the puzzle strips before setting them out. The children found put the puzzle strips together to form the shapes. The puzzles come with both faces and no faces so you have a choice as to which to use.

The free membership printable this week is shape puzzles for shape identification. I printed the patterns on cardstock paper ... cut them out and then laminated them and then cut along the dashed lines.

I mixed the puzzle pieces up and set them out in basket. There are three different colors for each shape making a total of 24 puzzles. You can choose to have the children do one set or all three.

In this activity the children find the two halves of the shape puzzle and put them together. Play continues until all shapes have been formed.

You can grab the patterns for free until Sunday April 30th ... after that they will only be available in the member's section which is also where I have added a shape alphabet that can be used for sequence and matching activities.
