The free daily printable this week is Butterfly Alphabet Clip Cards which is a great activity for developing for letter recognition as well as fine motor skills. I printed the patterns on cardstock paper ... cut them out and laminated them. I put them in a basket along with clothespins and put the basket in our literacy center.
In this activity children find and clip the same letter that is on the butterfly. You can do an upper to upper ... upper to lower ... and lower to lower match.
If you do not want to use clothespins I have also included cover-ups that can be used instead. You can grab the patterns for free until Sunday May 24th ... after that they will only be available in the member's section.

I wanted a sight word activity to round out our butterfly theme this week so I made a pick and cover game for out literacy center. I wrote sight words on the butterfly patterns and glued them inside a file folder. I wrote the same sight words on the blank labels and glued them on to jumbo crafts sticks. I printed out the cover-up rectangles on cardstock paper and attached a self-adhesive magnet to the back of each one. I placed the sight word sticks in a cup next to the file folder and the children picked a stick and searched for the matching sight word on the file folder game. They then covered up the sight word on the butterfly with a cover-up rectangle. Play continued until all sight words were covered. You can see a video of this activity here or by clicking below:
