I made birdhouse letter sliders for the children to work on letter recognition. I printed the patterns on cardstock paper ... cut them out and then laminated them. I cut the lines on the birdhouses with an exacto knife and set them out with the letter sliders in a basket.
The children picked a slider and pulled it through the birdhouse. They then identified the letter shown. When they finished with one slider they removed it and put a new one in. Play continues until all of the sliders have been used.
The free daily printable this week is Birdhouse Number Puzzles which is a great activity for number recognition and review. I printed the patterns on cardstock paper ... cut them out and laminated them.
In this activity children find the two birdhouse halves with the same number and put them together. You can grab the patterns for free until Sunday April 19th ... after that they will only be available in the member's section.
To go along with our spring birds theme I made number sequence puzzles with numbers 1-10 ... 11-20 ... 21-30 ... and skip counting by fives and tens. I printed them out on cardstock paper ... laminated them and cut along the lines so there were ten puzzle strips for each puzzle.
I attached a magnet at the top and bottom of the strips and the children put the puzzles together in numerical order on a metal tray.
