The free daily printable this week is Fall Leaf Letter Mats which is a great activity for letter recognition and review. In this activity children put the matching letter circle on the mats. We made playdough chicka chicka boom boom trees today for literacy and fine motor development. The children made tree trunks from brown playdough and then made the leaves from green playdough and put them above the tree trunk. They then made small playdough balls out of black playdough and pressed them on the leaves. The children then pressed letter beads that I purchased from amazon.com on to the tree. When they were done adding letters we discussed what letters they added to the tree and many were able to identify them. You can see a video of this activity by clicking below: I made chicka chicka boom boom color clothespin cards for the children to work on their colors and fine motor skills. I printed the patterns on cardstock paper and cut them out. After I laminated them I set them out in a basket with clothepins and the children put a clothespin on the matching color on each card.
