For the last of our ladybug center activities I made a ladybug letter match. The ladybug mats come with both upper and lowercase letters as well as the matching letter circles. I printed the mats on cardstock paper and glued them on to colored cardstock paper. I also printed the letter circles on cardstock paper and then laminated the mats and the circles to add durability. The children matched the letter circles to the letters on the mat and were able to do an upper to upper ... upper to lower ... and lower to lower case match.
I set up an outdoor playdough center today and the children made playdough ladybugs. I made a leaf mat that the children could use to put their ladybugs on (I printed it on cardstock paper and laminated it). The children pinched and shaped red playdough into ovals and then made small balls from black playdough. The next step was to put the ladybug heads and bodies together and then press black pony beads on the body of each ladybug. The children really enjoyed making the ladybugs and putting them on the leaf mat. You can see a video of this activity here or by clicking below: |
